The Switch XL is a modular storage and bed system designed for VW Transporter owners who want their van to work hard during the week and adapt easily for weekends away. It bridges the gap between a work van and a camper without committing to a permanent conversion, allowing you to switch layouts in seconds.

Now supplied as standard with our OneTouch drawer system, enabling smooth one-handed drawer operation when loading or unloading.

Built from phenolic-coated birch plywood, stainless steel hardware and heavy-duty components, the Switch XL is designed for real-world use. Whether you are carrying tools, bikes or camping kit, it provides strength, reliability and a clean, factory-style finish that feels at home in a daily driver.

The system offers three configurations in one unit:

  • Full-height bulkhead for secure load separation

  • Half-height bulkhead for split use between passengers and cargo

  • Full-width bed or load platform for sleeping or storage

Each layout locks securely into place, keeping the system stable and quiet on the road.

Compatibility

The Switch XL is engineered for maximum compatibility across the VW Transporter range and fits all Vehicles and configurations below.

  • VW Transporter T5, T5.1, T6, and T6.1
  • Fits both Short Wheelbase (SWB) and Long Wheelbase (LWB)

Seating Layouts:

  • Compatible with all standard Kombi seats.
  • Works with seats fully removed.
  • Note: For Shuttle models, the rearmost row must be removed.

Primary material - 18mm Black Hexa-grip Phenolic coated A-grade Birch Plywood. All cut edges chamfered and sealed with a double coat on high traffic areas.

Surface mounted flush hinges - A4 Stainless steel (Marine grade)

180Kg Heavy Duty drawer runners - Galvanised steel (48 hour salt water tested)

Bulkhead restraint - Dyneema cored braided line (stronger than steel)

Threaded inserts used throughout. NO wood screws.

Care & Maintenance

Cleaning surfaces - Wipe usable surfaces and metals with Green oil or similar lubricating sprays. Avoid harsh cleaning chemicals.

Drawer runners - Use compressed air to blow debris from around the ball bearings, and then re-apply Green oil liberally.
